This year, France broke the record for its participation in the Reeperbahn Festival in Hamburg!
23 made in France groups were scheduled, two thirds of which benefited from financial support from bureauexport in Berlin and from Institut Français: Acid Arab, Adrien Soleiman, ALA.NI, Alejandra Ribera, Awa Ly, Camp Claude, Colt Silvers, Gerald Kurdian, Her, Hyphen Hyphen, Imarhan, Inna Modja, Jain, Jeanne Added, Jumo, Klyne, Llorca, Lido, Lola Marsh, Louane, Soom T, Superpoze, Parcels.
More than 6 500 people attended the 23 French showcases. The concerts of Acid Arab, ALA.NI, Her, Imarhan, Jeanne Added, Llorca, and Lido all sold out. These showcases allowed the artists to lay the groundwork for a career in the German-language market (contact with German PR professionals, labels/distributors, sub-publishers, promoters, and bookers).
In addition to the concerts, bureauexport in Berlin organised its annual networking mixer ‘Meet the French’, bringing together French and international professionals. This event gathered roughly 300 professional partners and international media representatives. As a direct result of this mixer, Soom T, Lola Marsh, and Jain were able to confirm concerts in Germany for November and December 2016, and Acid Arab, Camp Claude, ALA.NI and Parcels confirmed their dates for 2017.
Some important numbers for the 11th edition of the Reeperbahn Festival: 450 concerts, 38 000 attendees, 125 networking events and conferences, 4 400 professionals from over 40 countries, representing an increase of over 20% from the 2015 edition. The 12th edition will take place September 20-23, 2017, with Canada as the focus country.
